Is it dangerous?
Not venomous, but it has unusually long teeth and strikes from a coiled perch. A bite is painful and needs proper wound care, so this is a look-only snake.
Why is it so expensive?
They are slow to breed, demanding to raise, and imports are tightly controlled, so good captive-bred animals are always costly.
Is it hard to keep?
Yes, one of the harder boas. It needs steady humidity, good airflow and careful feeding, and it does not forgive a swinging environment.
How often does it eat?
Much less often than people expect, roughly every two to three weeks for an adult. Overfeeding is a common and serious mistake with this species.
